We enjoyed an excellent sleep at our London apartment and on the following day Peter woke me up with a light bite and a very hot cup of tea and we been able to make plans for the remainder of the day. We had a good guide and made a wonderful walk to the British Museum, where we decided to be our first stop. This particular museum absolutely astonished me with its amazing number of objects. Peter read that there were displayed much more than seven mil pieces of art that come from all continents. He liked most the original reading room, that is now surrounded by the Great Court. We spend quality time in all of the departments in the British Museum and my most liked one became the Department of Africa, Oceania and Americas, while Peter loved most the Department of Ancient Egypt and Sudan. Given that it was already lunchtime, we ate at the museum onsite dining place and the meal was great and at a fair price.
Right after lunch time we went to the National Gallery, which is set on the Trafalgar Square, neighboring the Nelson’s column with its four lions at its bottom. Just before going into the gallery we created some photos of the monument of this fantastic soldier. Peter explained that it is right here that local people celebrate the New Year’s Eve and assured me that we will return one day to be a part of this party as well.
In the National Gallery we saw works of art from amazing artists like Cezanne, Giotto, Velazquez, Titian, etc. Peter advised we ought to purchase a number of souvenirs for close friends and loved ones from the gallery’s shop and we did so, which got to be a fantastic thought, as later on everyone liked the gift.
The last stop for the day was the Tate Gallery, where we found some contemporary works of art. The day was very long and exhausting, thus we spend the evening in our London vacation flat and went only for a quick stroll immediately after an evening meal organized by me.
